Ariana Grande Bags Chart Double In U.K.

Ariana Grande has done the chart double in the U.K., where Positions (Republic Records) and its title track rule the charts.

Positions logs 27,500 chart sales, including 27.6 million track streams, according to the Official Charts Company, to bow at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

It’s Ari’s fourth consecutive leader on the survey, following Dangerous Woman (2016), Sweetener (2018), and Thank U, Next (2019).

Over on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, “Positions” enters a second week at No. 1, while two more tracks from the LP crack the Top 40. Grande’s “34+35” is new at No. 9 and “Motive” featuring Doja Cat is at No. 16, extending her list of U.K. Top 40 hits to 28.

She’s the fourth artist to achieve the chart double in 2020 (Drake, Eminem and Stormzy are the others), and the first female artist to score consecutive chart double wins in almost ten years (Rihanna did it in 2011).

Thanks to Grande’s chart domination, Sam Smith misses out on top spot with Love Goes (Capitol), new at No. 2 on the albums survey. It’s the end of a golden streak for Smith, whose previous two albums hit the summit of the national albums survey.

Veteran singer Cliff Richard rounds out an all-new Top 3 with Music… The Air That I Breathe (East West/Rhino). Music gives Richard his 46th Top 10 album and extends his run of chart success across eight decades, the OCC reports.

Sheffield rock outfit Bring Me The Horizon snag a fourth Top 10 with Post Human – Survival Horror (RCA), new at No. 5; and M Huncho earns his second Top 10 entry for 2020 with DNA (Hunchozone), his mixtape with Nafe Smallz, new at No. 6.

Also, Paul Weller’s The Style Council score their first Top 10 in 31 years with Long Hot Summers – The Story Of (Polydor/UMC), new at No. 8.

Finally, Scottish singer and songwriter Amy MacDonald lands a fifth straight Top 10 studio album with The Human Demands (Infectious Music). It’s new at No. 10.

Lil Nas X Teases New Single ‘Holiday’: Watch

Lil Nas X embraces a little “Holiday” magic in the comedic trailer for his new single, which first aired during the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game Sunday night (Nov. 8) on NBC.

The teaser clip for “Holiday” — the title of the song that will be released on Friday (Nov. 13) — brings Lil Nas X back to an “Old Town Road” setting, but takes him to new places.

“You are the new Santa,” he reads on the tag of a fallen Santa’s hat, as some new music kicks in.

Horses grow reindeer antlers. Snow begins to fall. A bearded Lil Nas X looks on at the camera, donning Santa garb.

“To be continued,” the clip promises as his sleigh takes flight from the Western scene.

You’ll want to catch the commercial to watch until the end for a special warning for Nas, just before the Nov. 13 release date for “Holiday” gets announced.

Why Don’t We Bring the Rock to 2020 MTV EMA With ‘Fallin”

If you had filed Why Don’t We into the boy band category, you might have been surprised by their performance Sunday (Nov. 8) at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards. The band was still intact, but the boys have grown up into full-blown rockers, with each member playing an instrument for their run through “Fallin’.”

The fivesome kept things straightforward, performing on a light-up stage while each showcasing their vocals and their musical chops on their respective instruments. Daniel Seavey even pulled a Phil Collins, banging away on the drums while turning in a flawless falsetto simultaneously.

“We’ve grown up quite a bit,” Jonah Marais told People in September. “We’re now the band we’ve dreamed of being.”

24kGoldn & Iann Dior Are in a Colorful ‘Mood’ for Their 2020 MTV EMAs Performance

Nothing drab about this! Though 24kGoldn and collaborator Iann Dior performed in what appeared to be a pretty empty warehouse for the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards preshow on Sunday (Nov. 8), the set was far from drab.

As the two performed their hit song “Mood,” they danced among colorful banners that hung from an upper walkway and high bars all the way to the floor level where they were. There was also a stage with its edges lit up in neon pink lights.

“Why you always in a mood? F–kin’ ’round, actin’ brand new/ I ain’t tryna tell you what to do/ But try to play it cool/ Baby, I ain’t playing by your rules/ Everything look better with a view,” the two sang coolly as light from high windows streamed into the open space.

24kGoldn’s “Mood” hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 on the chart dated Oct. 24. On Friday (Nov. 6), the young artist also released a remix of the song that featured Justin Bieber and J Balvin. Those were just two of several successes for the 19-year-old, who was Billboard’s Chartbreaker in early October. 24KGoldn was also named one of Billboard’s 21 Under 21.

This year’s MTV EMAs were hosted by Little Mix.

John Legend & Chrissy Teigen Celebrate Joe Biden’s Win With Crowd in Hollywood

Taking the party to the streets! John Legend and Chrissy Teigen celebrated in the streets of West Hollywood after Joe Biden was announced the president elect on Saturday (Nov. 7).

About an hour after news networks called the presidential election for Biden over incumbent Donald Trump, the cookbook author shared a clip of herself and husband Legend at home in their robes, grooving to YG’s “FDT” featuring the late Nipsey Hussle.

A few hours later, Teigen decided that she didn’t want to stay home on the historic day, when Kamala Harris not only became the vice president elect, but also the first woman to hold the office and the first woman of color to be VP. “Jealous of everyone in the streets partying. Beverly Hills quiet,” she tweeted at a little after 1 p.m. PT. Then she shared a video of herself putting on her shoes and declaring, “Screw this s–t! I’m getting out there!”

She went on to share a clip of herself in her black SUV screaming out the window while rolling around West Hollywood, as well as photos captured by fellow celebrators of her and Legend as the two cheered through the sunroof of their vehicle. Teigen tweeted, “Everyone is so happy I’m crying.”

Video also surfaced of the couple dancing and cheering along with the crowds as their car drove by.

The night before the Nov. 3 election, 11-time Grammy winner Legend performed and spoke out against Trump at a Biden-Harris rally in Philadelphia. “Some people see the meanness, the bullying, the selfishness of Donald Trump and they mistake it for strength, a kind of twisted masculinity,” he said. “Some see his greed and they mistake it for being good at business.”

The election was called for Biden early on Nov. 7 after it became clear that Trump would not overcome the former vice president’s lead in Pennsylvania, which went blue after the president won the state in the 2016 election. The call gave Biden the final electoral votes he needed to reach the 270 mark.

Lana Del Rey Covers ‘On Eagle’s Wings’ Hymn in Honor of Joe Biden’s Acceptance Speech

Lana Del Rey took a break from the recording studio to share a cover of the hymn “On Eagle’s Wings” after being inspired by President-elect Joe Biden’s acceptance speech on Saturday (Nov. 7).

In his emotional address, Biden shared some inspiring words from the 1970s hymn, which was a favorite of his late son Beau Biden, who died from cancer in 2015. Obviously inspired, Del Rey took to Instagram to share her a capella take on the Michael Joncas-penned hymn.

“And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings/ Bear you on the breath of dawn/ Make you shine like the sun/ And hold you in the palm of His hand,” Del Rey beautifully sings in the black-and-white clip.

“Hey guys well as promised we are getting a Headstart on that album of standard folk songs and all things americana, but we took a break to watch the Biden speech and he mentioned at the end of it to hymn that he hoped gave Americans hope so I thought I would just give a little version of that as we took a break in the studio,” she captioned the post.

Earlier in the week, the 35-year-old singer announced that her upcoming album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, is being delayed by 16 weeks. To hold fans over in the meantime, she plans to release a new album filled with “American standards and classics” by Christmastime.
