Crowded House Return With ‘Whatever You Want’ Starring Mac DeMarco: Watch

It’s a Crowded House party, and everyone’s invited.

Neill Finn’s Australasian folk-rock outfit ends a decade-long drought with “Whatever You Want,” their first new music since 2009’s Intriguer album

Canadian indie artist Mac DeMarco appears as a contemplative party animal in the official music video for “Whatever You Want,” which dropped Thursday (Oct. 29) and is directed by Nina Ljeti.

“Waking up with the fear after last night’s revelry. We can all relate to that,” says Finn of the music video. “Thanks to Mac for working through the pain and showing us redemption.”

It’s a bolt out of the blue for a cherished band with fans spread across the globe, but whose members had splintered off to pursue other musical endeavors though the 2010s.

Crowded House were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2016, in recognition of a stellar international career which now spans 35 years.

They’ve topped the ARIA Albums Chart with five LPs, collected 13 ARIA Awards and hold the title for highest-selling Australian album of all time by a group with 1996’s Recurring Dream: The Very Best of Crowded House, which topped the national chart for eight weeks en route to 13-times platinum sales.

Recurring Dream also topped the Official U.K. Albums Chart and is one of four Crowded House album to crack the top 10 in that market.

The current incarnation of Crowded House features Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, Liam Finn and Elroy Finn.

Though it’s unclear if a full album of material is coming, Crowded House will hit the road in March 2021 for the To The Island tour of New Zealand.

The ten-dates “will be a joyous occasion for us, with all the songs from our history that still resonate, some new music to unveil and our home crowds to share all that with…feeling truly blessed,” said Finn, who joined Fleetwood Mac on their world tour.

Live Nation will produce the trek.
