‘SNL’ to Honor Chadwick Boseman With Rerun of His Hosted Episode

NBC is planning to honor the late Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman with a re-run of an episode of Saturday Night Live that he hosted in April 2018.

The episode will air at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Sept. 5. During the show, Boseman reprised his role as T’Challa from the superhero pic, this time appearing in a Black Jeopardy sketch. In a Black Panther-themed sketch, Boseman explained the ‘Wakanda Forever’ salute from the movie.

Boseman died on Aug. 28 at the age of 43, after a four year battle with colon cancer, survived by his wife Taylor Simone Ledward.

The day after his death, the official Twitter account for SNL tweeted a photo of Boseman in a brightly colored jacket and against a warm, painted backdrop of the sky, water and flowers — it was originally used to promote the episode he hosted.

Viola Davis, Issa Rae, Barack Obama, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Pratt were among the many Hollywood figures who posted tributes to the actor on social media, remembering his “brilliant, beautiful, kind artistic mind.”

Rihanna Is ‘Fine’ Following Electric Scooter Accident

Rihanna is doing well after an accident that involved an electric scooter.

“Rihanna is completely fine now but flipped over on an electric scooter last week and bruised her forehead and face. Luckily there were no major injuries and she is healing quickly,” a rep for the singer said after she had been photographed with what appeared to be bruises on her face, according to People.

Billboard has also reached out for comment.

Rihanna fans — including Ariana Grande — have been patiently waiting for her follow-up to 2016’s Anti. In August, Grande begged for a new album from her: “fill my ears again please,” she pleaded in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Cardi B recently brought up Rihanna’s name when she discovered a remix of “WAP” with “S&M.” “I like this …ALOT,” Cardi said when she shared the mashup.

Cardi B Wishes She Could Perform ‘WAP’ for Large Crowds: ‘I Miss Shows and Festivals’

Cardi B is no doubt enjoying the success of her new hit single “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, but she’s still disappointed over not being able to perform it live for fans.

“Yoooo I wanna perform WAP so bad with a lot ass crowd.I miss shows and festivals,” Cardi tweeted Saturday (Sept. 5). “Yoooooo I would of went crazy.”

In recent months, thousands of tours and festivals around the world have been postponed or canceled in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. Cardi hasn’t performed for major crowds since numerous global festival appearances in 2019.

One fan responded to the rapper’s tweet, writing, “We miss you performing! It would’ve been such an iconic performance.”

“WAP” recently spent a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. In early August, the controversial track blasted in with 93 million streams, the most ever for a song in its first week of release.

“WAP” also marks the the first song to spend its first two weeks at the top of the Hot 100 since Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings,” which scored five weeks in a row at No. 1 beginning on Feb. 2, 2019.

Last week, Cardi B launched a line of waterproof merch to slide off the success of the hit single. Items in the “WAP”-dedicated store include multi-colored raincoats ($125) and umbrellas ($25), as well as a crop biker set ($40).

Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams Share Touching Tributes on Beyonce’s 39th Birthday

Beyonce received lots of love from her friends, family and fellow musicians on her 39th birthday.

Among those helping celebrate Queen Bey’s special day on Friday (Sept. 4) were the “Crazy in Love” singer’s former Destiny’s Child groupmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who each penned touching tributes on Instagram.

“To my one who knows me, sometimes better than I know myself!” Rowland captioned a colorful photo of the two standing side-by-side in sparkling dresses. “YOU already know… Forever and ever babe! Happy Happy Birthday Love!”

Williams, meanwhile, shared an encouraging message alongside a black-and-white photo from Beyonce’s days as a student.

“Bey always gets people with the baby pics or younger year type pics, so I thought I’d do the same,” Williams wrote. “The awesome thing about this picture is that it causes me to reflect on how you KNEW who you wanted to be! You worked super hard and you are truly who you’ve always wanted to be!! I’m so honored to not only know who you’ve wanted to be as an artist and to experience that with you but an even greater joy to see the woman, sister and friend you continue to be!”

She added, “This pic can also serve as an encouragement of how everyone pretty much starts out the same way……there’s no way of dodging the corny school pictures unless you purposely skipped school picture day or maybe unfortunately not feeling well that day.”

In addition to birthday wishes from her friends, Bey also received a heartfelt tribute from her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, who shared an adorable video on Instagram of her daughter performing as a young girl.

“Happy Birthday to my forever little girl (in my head) from your biggest fan since your birth!! You have brought me soo much joy and have poured into me so much love and confidence. (yes confidence, at my lowest points you Solange, Kelly. And Angie booted me up and helped me remember my power)!!” Knowles-Lawson captioned the clip.

“I am so lucky to have you in my life. Keep being a light to so many and a warrior that keeps it moving forward even when some people don’t get you , some get it now , and some oh well !!! it takes them a lot longer but maybe they’ll get it next year. Some are slower than others! Happy Birthday Baby !!!”

Christina Aguilera Watches New ‘Mulan’ for First Time With Her Kids: ‘It’s a Beautiful Thing to Share’

Christina Aguilera is spending quality time with her family amid the release of Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan.

The 39-year-old pop star cozied up with her two kids — Max, 12, and Summer, 6 — on Friday (Sept. 4) to watch the premiere of the new Mulan on Disney+. The singer shared the experience with her fans by live-tweeting throughout the viewing.

“My kids know about #Mulan, but they haven’t seen the live action version yet,” Aguilera wrote. “They’ve heard the music, they saw me recording it in the studio — so it’s a beautiful thing to share that with my children now.”

Released in 1998, the original animated version of Mulan featured Aguilera’s breakout hit “Reflection,” which shot the then-teenaged singer to stardom on the strength of her powerful pipes.

More than 20 years later, Aguilera re-recorded the inspirational ballad for Disney’s (non-musical) 2020 iteration of Mulan. The long-awaited film’s soundtrack also features her original song “Loyal Brave True.”

While live-tweeting on Friday, Aguilera responded to a fan asking which version of “Reflection” she likes better.

“I am partial to the new version of Reflection for sure,” the singer wrote. “Although I look back and smile at the version I did as a teen…I can hear the youth of a girl who doesn’t fully know herself or the power of her instrument yet. I’ve gotten to know myself better over the past 20 years…”

Mulan hit Disney+ on Friday after being postponed multiple times from premiering in theaters due to the coronavirus pandemic.
